Woman killed in southeast Nebraska crash involving tractor, semi and car
An 83-year-old woman was killed and two men were injured Tuesday in a chain-reaction collision two miles east of Shickley, according to the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office.
Marjorie Dowdy, of Shickley, was driving west on Nebraska 74 just before 1 p.m. when an eastbound semi rear-ended a John Deere tractor that was turning right off the highway, a news release said.
That collision sent the semi into the westbound lanes, where it hit Dowdy’s Chevy.
Dowdy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor, 62-year-old William Swartzendruber of rural Shickley, was flown to Bryan West Campus in Lincoln, where he was listed in fair condition Wednesday.
Matthew Supanchick, 27, of Kearney, was driving the semi. An ambulance took him to Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva.
