Police search for rape suspect who cut off GPS
SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Police are looking for a man from Southbridge charged with sexually assaulting a child who cut off his GPS monitoring device and fled in a vehicle belonging to his parents.
Police think 26-year-old Gregory Lewis may have left the state.
Authorities say he cut off the court-ordered monitoring device on Sept. 15 and took a blue 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the registration number 85GF63 from his parents.
Lewis has not contacted his family since he left.
Lewis was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Aug. 6 on two counts each of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and statutory rape of a child.
Lewis was released on $1,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
