Rochester office damaged in early morning fire

November 30, 2018

A local office sustained approximately $50,000 in damage early this morning in a fire, according to the Rochester Fire Department.

The Rochester Fire Department responded to AMAR Wellness Services, at 3253 19th St. NW, around 1:15 a.m. Thursday for a report of a structure fire. Flames were visible through the office’s front window, according to the fire department.

Firefighters on scene found “light smoke coming from the structure, with smoke-staining to the front windows and evidence of active fire inside,” the department wrote in a release.

One crew attacked the fire through the front door while additional crews ventilated and searched the structure. No one was in the business at the time of the fire and it was determined that it had not spread to an adjoining business.

The fire is estimated to have caused $50,000 in damage to the entryway and throughout the building due to smoke damage, according to the fire department. The origin of the fire is under investigation, but the cause has been ruled accidental.

Rochester Police, Gold Cross Ambulance Service, Minnesota Energy and Rochester Public Utilities all responded.
