Fellows Club To Honor Sondheim

NEW YORK (AP) _ Composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim was to receive the Fellows of the Phi Beta Kappa Society Award at the Harvard Club on Wednesday.

Sondheim, 71, is a 1949 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College.

The Fellows organization was established at the Harvard Club in 1940. Its annual award recognizes excellence, creativity, and intellectual achievement.

Sondheim’s credits include ``West Side Story,″ ``Company,″ ``Follies,″ and ``A Little Night Music.″

Previous recipients include Beverly Sills, Eudora Welty, Jane Alexander, and TV documentary producers Bill and Judith Moyers.
