Fla. International 84, Cent. Florida 61

MIAMI (AP) _ James Mazyck scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Florida International to an 84-61 win over Central Florida Thursday night.

The Golden Panthers (5-15, 2-9) snapped a three-game losing streak with the Trans Atlantic Athletic Conference win.

Mazyck and Scott Forbes each scored 13 first-half points as Florida International jumped to a 9-0 lead after 3:05.

Central Florida (7-14, 4-8) got on the boards with a 3-pointer by Howard Porter. But Florida International followed with a 16-0 run to lead 25-3 with 11:23 remaining in the first half.

Central Florida cut the lead to 14 points four times in the first half. But Florida International went on a 5-0 run and led 42-25 at halftime.

The Golden Panthers led by as many as 16 points on their way to the final margin.

Forbes finished with 19 points. Matt Tchir and Zhivago Nicolls had 15 each.

Ochiel Swaby led Central Florida with 13 points, followed by Patrick Butts with 12. Porter and Chuck Roberts both scored 10 points.
