July 29, 2018

A 2-year-old boy is dead Sunday afternoon on the South Side, according to San Antonio police.

SAPD spokesman Carlos Ortiz said police received a call for an apparent sudden death at 12:21 p.m. in the 200 block of Cantrell Drive.

“When officers arrived on scene they said the adults inside were administering CPR to a 2-year-old boy,” Ortiz said.

EMS arrived and continued CPR, but the boy could not be recusitated, police said.

Ortiz said that homicide detectives are now investigating the toddler’s death as per standard protocol.

Authorities did not release any other details Sunday afternoon.
