Jenny Salestrom will be leaving her position as executive director of Mid-Plains United Way.
She will be taking a job in Jacksonville, Florida, with Digital Convergence Alliance/Network Operations Center, a subsidiary of JCT, LLC (PBS).
“It’s a public broadcasting station, and my new position will be traffic specialist,” Salestrom said. “I’ll be working with PBS stations throughout the country and building their programming throughout the day.
“There’s two reasons for moving to Jacksonville,” Salestrom said. “One, there’s family, of course. I have a brother, and he and his wife have two lovely kids I’d love to see more than once a year.”
The other reason, she said, is the adventure of the move.
“We’ve vacationed there for many years and it’s a beautiful area, and how fun would it be to live there,” Salestrom said.
She has lived in North Platte for 20 years after moving here with her parents, Chuck and Kristi, after graduating from Kearney High School.
“Like anything, it was an adjustment, but pretty soon it became home,” Salestrom said of that move. “Great friends, great jobs, all of those things.”
Salestrom said she has met a lot of amazing people and made lasting friendships.
“It was an amazing opportunity to work with the United Way,” Salestrom said. “The Board of Trustees, volunteers, staff and I have moved this organization to another level of growth and support for our partner agencies.
“I know in the next chapter, the new director will move the United Way to yet another level. I am excited for their future.”
Her last day at United Way is Sept. 18, and the first day at her new job is Sept. 24.
