Lightning Strike Causes Hudson Fire

HUDSON, N.H. -- A lightning strike sparked a fire at Fit Lab Gym Friday evening, according to fire officials.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

Hudson firefighters responded to the fire at Nottingham Square Plaza, 142 Lowell Road, at around 7:45 p.m., according to a press release.

Upon arrival at Fit Lab Gym, they found smoke in the gym. They located a fire in the rear of Fit Lab in an adjacent utility room. The fire was quickly extinguished.

A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was caused by a lightning strike that traveled through conduit to a lawn sprinkler timer box in the utility room, according to a press release.

Fire personnel were on scene evacuating smoke out of the gym for an additional hour.
