Prosecutors File Motion To Revoke Kane’s Bail
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office filed a motion this afternoon seeking to revoke former state attorney general Kathleen G. Kane’s bail.
The motion, filed around noon today, argues Kane has no right to remain free on bail now that the state Supreme Court declined to hear her appeal of her August 2016 conviction. A jury found Kane, 52, of Waverly Twp., guilty of perjury and other offenses for leaking information about the 2009 grand jury probe of a Philadelphia man to a newspaper and lying about her actions.
Kate Delano, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, said Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy can either schedule a hearing on the motion, or she could grant the motion and set a date for Kane to surrender to begin serving her 10- to 23-month sentence at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
It’s not known when the judge will rule on the matter.
