An overabundance of donations
As the fire initially started to grow, residents from around Utah County looked for ways to help both those fighting the fires and those evacuated from their homes.
By Saturday morning, incident manager Marty Adell informed the community that firefighters working on the fire had sufficient supplies, and donations should be directed toward evacuees.
Monday morning, the Nebo School District and the Red Cross also let local residents know that the evacuees were well taken care of with donations.
Because the response for donations has been so abundant, we are asking members of the local and surrounding communities to pause and hold off on providing additional donations for now,” the Nebo School District wrote on social media. “If that changes, word will go out and the items needed most will be identified.”
