3 charged with trying to smuggle drugs into Alabama prison
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Three people have been arrested and charged with trying to smuggle drugs into an Alabama prison.
The Alabama Department of Corrections said Thursday that 39-year-old Michael Alley; his wife, 41--year-old Priscilla Alley; and 38-year-old John Dasinger have been arrested. All three live in Ozark.
Prison officials say the trio was arrested Tuesday at Easterling Correctional Facility in Clio. Prison officials say one of their dogs found methamphetamines, marijuana, cellphones, phone chargers, batteries, and other contraband in two backpacks the suspects had dropped near a perimeter fence.
Michael Alley and Dasinger face drug charges and conspiracy to promote contraband. Priscilla Alley faces conspiracy charges.
They are being held in the Barbour County jail. It was not known if they have attorneys yet.
