Patricia A. Black, 82, formerly of Herscher, passed away Thursday (Dec. 13, 2018) at Heritage Woods Nursing Home of Manteno.
She was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Cabery, the daughter of Myril and Laura (Larson) Barham.
Patricia was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and worked for several local nursing homes. She also had worked at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee and served as a home health care registered nurse.
She was a member of the Herscher Christian Church.
Patricia enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was devoted to creating prayer shawls for individuals in her community. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was very passionate for the mission of Relay for Life of Kankakee County, where she had served as a committee chairman and a team member for 20 years.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Everett Mills, of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Michelle Ball, of Herscher; five grandchildren, Mike and Julie Geise, Ashlee and Jeff Rees, Brittany and Justin Warren, Aaron Mills and Trevor Ball; seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee Johnson, Camden Johnson, Jacob Rees, Jayden Rees, Korbin Mills, Elle Warren and Everly Warren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Judith Swanson; one brother, Frank Barham; and one daughter, Angela Geise.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, until the noon memorial service at Herscher Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for her Relay for Life team or Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
