Georgia teen charged with making threatening online post
FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia teenager is accused of posting a potential threat online.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Lt. Lawson Bittick tells The Telegraph of Macon that the language included in the post was “in a threatening style,” but did not disclose when the post was made or where it was posted.
The Monroe County School District said in an email to community members Thursday that the 17-year-old Mary Persons High School student was removed from the school after students reported the post to administrators.
Bittick says the post didn’t directly mention the high school, so the boy is charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, as terroristic threats do not apply.
His arrest comes a day after a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, left 17 dead.
