Beaver Dam Police Beat: August 17 and 18, 2018
Animal complaint — Police responded to a report of a pit bull-type dog running loose at 9:25 a.m. on Friday. The dog was returned to the owner in the 300 block of Rosendale Street.
Hit-and-run — A witness to a hit-and-run around University Avenue and South Street called police on Friday at 10:55 a.m. Police made contact with the victim, who was going to check with the insurance company.
Fraud — Police received an anonymous report of a woman being scammed by a man in Australia in the 100 block of Lakecrest Drive at 11:40 a.m. on Friday. The complainant was uncooperative with an officer.
Accident — Police responded to an accident where a woman backed into an unoccupied car around Grove Street and Mackie Street at 12:54 p.m. on Friday.
Threat — A woman reported a man was making threatening statements and driving past the area of the 200 block of South Spring Street at 3:17 p.m. on Friday. An officer found nothing threatening in messages from the man and advised her to call back if he showed up again. She was going to look into getting a restraining order.
Harassment — A man reported at 3:44 p.m. on Friday that a woman was harassing him to the point he quit his job. An officer made contact with the woman and found they were in a mutual texting relationship that ended. The woman reported the issue to police earlier in the week and the man ended up changing his story. He was warned for harassment.
Accident — Police responded to an accident where a semi-truck clipped a light in the intersection of Maple Avenue and Center Street at 5:25 p.m. on Friday.
Noise complaint — Police responded to a report of fireworks in a parking lot in the 1000 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 7:28 p.m. on Friday. An officer made contact with a suspect who denied lighting fireworks. He was warned future incidents would result in citation.
Noise complaint — Police responded to a report of an alarm bell like a school bell ringing on and off for 13 hours at a business in the 400 block of South Center Street at 9:38 p.m. on Friday. An employee said the alarm is for low boiler temperature and pressure and that the business is having someone come to look at it.
Unwanted person — A woman reported she wanted a man at her residence removed in the 300 block of East South Street at 10:48 p.m. on Friday. Officers made contact with the man, who left. A second man hiding in the basement was taken to jail on warrants.
Theft — A man on Fabisch Road reported a woman stole his wallet at 11:30 p.m. on Friday.
Arrest — Police attempted to arrest a man on a warrant in a hotel in the 700 block of Park Avenue at 12:35 a.m. on Saturday. A guest registered to the room the man was in allowed officers to enter. The man barricaded himself inside. When officers attempted entry, he kicked out the windows and an officer tased him. He was taken to jail for criminal damage to property, resisting officers, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and the warrant.
Fight — Police responded to a report of a fight between three men around North University Avenue and Third Street at 2:29 a.m. on Saturday. Officers made contact with four men. One was taken to jail for second OWI. A second was cited for disorderly conduct.
Hit-and-run — A man reported his vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the 200 block of Front Street at 2:31 a.m. on Saturday.
Harassment — A man reported being harassed by his neighbors in the 400 block of South Center Street at 7:01 a.m. on Saturday.
Hit-and-run — A man reported a newer black Chevy hit his car in the 200 block of Front Street on Saturday morning and left a dent.
