Suicide car bomber kills 2 Pakistani soldiers
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say a suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into an army convoy in the country’s northwest, killing at least two soldiers.
The officials say two other soldiers were wounded in the attack Friday in Wana, the largest town in the South Waziristan tribal area. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack, but suspicion will likely fall on the Pakistani Taliban. The group used South Waziristan as its main sanctuary in the country before the army conducted a large offensive in 2009.
