TOKYO (AP) — Dimitrij Ovtcharov, Timo Boll and Patrick Franziska all won quarterfinal matches on Saturday as Germany beat Singapore 3-0 to advance to the semifinals of the table tennis world team championships.

Ovtcharov beat Clarence Chew 11-5, 11-8, 11-3 in the opener while Boll overpowered Gao Ning 13-11, 11-7, 11-5. Franziska made it a clean sweep with a 9-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 win over Pang Xue Jie.

Germany will face Japan in the semifinals on Sunday. The host nation booked its place in the semis with a 3-0 win over Portugal on Friday.

Defending champion China will face Taiwan in the other semifinal.
