WVC SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Babcock Hits For Cycle In Rangers’ Win

At Northwest, senior Trista Babcock had a career game for the Rangers, hitting for the cycle in a 12-2 win over MMI Prep on Tuesday.

Babcock went 4 for 5 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a single, a double, a triple and a home run.

Aleigha Parnell, Nicole Cragle and Alaina Carle also had standout games at the plate with three hits each. Brenna Babcock was 2 for 4 with a home run, while Courtney Cragle and Amanda Cheslaw had two hits apiece.

Nicole Cragle threw a complete-game to earn the win, striking out six along the way.

At Hazleton Area, the Cougars continued their winning ways and improved to 16-0 with Marissa Trivelpiece leading the way with a home run, triple and four RBIs.

Julia Mrochko also hit a home run as part of a three-RBI game. Kaitlynn Peters was 2 for 3.

Winning pitcher Aleah Kost threw a shutout and also had a hit and a run scored at the plate. Julia Franks had two of Valley West’s five hits off Kost.

Campbell Kelly went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Sem, while Halle Kehl was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Emma Bean drove in two for the Blue Knights.

At Tunkhannock, the Tigers won their 11th game in a row as Hope Jones and Kendra Schultz split pitching duties and combined for 12 strikeouts.

Jones reached 300 career strikeouts and hit a home run, too, which was one of six extra-base hits by the Tigers. Faith Jones was 3 for 4. Jena Simmons and Nicole Howell each added two hits with RBIs.
