Texas Southern 77, Prairie View A&M 69

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) _ Kevin Granger had 27 points and John Rhodes had 12 rebounds to boost Texas Southern to a 77-69 victory over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

Cold shooting put Texas Southern (9-10, 4-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) at a 29-25 halftime disadvantage as neither team made more than 36 percent of its first-half shots from the floor.

But Texas Southern came alive after the intermission, connecting on 62 percent of its second-half shots. Prairie View (4-15, 0-7) managed only 47 percent shooting efficiency from the floor.

The Panthers were forced to send Texas Southern to the line 22 times in the second half. The Tigers converted 15 times.

Marion Ray contributed 19 points for Texas Southern, and Rhodes added 10.

Derick Malone led Prairie View with 20 points and was one of five players with a team-high four rebounds. Tammaron Sharp added 18 points for the Panthers.
