United Airlines adding extra spring break flights from Cleveland Hopkins, including Saturday service to Tampa

CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s not yet Thanksgiving, but United Airlines hopes Cleveland travelers are looking ahead to spring break.

The airline has added extra capacity to three warm-weather routes from Cleveland, including new Saturday-only service to Tampa, starting in March.

The additions are part of a bigger announcement from United, which is adding spring break capacity across its network to destinations in Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico.

In Cleveland, the additions are:

* Saturday-only service to Tampa, running four Saturdays, March 9-30. Flights leave Cleveland at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Tampa at 11:13 a.m.; departing Tampa at noon and arriving in Cleveland at 2:30 p.m.

* An additional Saturday flight each to Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale, March 9-30. These flights are in addition to already scheduled daily seasonal service between Cleveland and these two Florida cities.

These new flights will be operated by United Express on Embraer regional jets, with seating for 70-76 passengers.

United Airlines previously flew to Tampa from Cleveland, but cut that route in early 2015, after pulling its hub from Hopkins a year earlier. At the time, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale were also eliminated, but United eventually added those routes back.

Frontier and Spirit airlines also fly to Tampa from Cleveland; Allegiant flies into nearby St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
