Cleveland man charged in shooting prompted by fight over nude photos posted online

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man is accused of shooting another man in the leg during a fight over nude photos shared on the internet.

Dwight E. Tupper, 29, is charged with felonious assault in the Sunday shooting outside a home on West 47th Street near Denison Avenue, according to court records.

He is not in custody but investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest on Monday, court records say.

Video from a neighbor’s security camera revealed that Tupper and a 42-year-old man shot at each other during an argument in the street, police reports say.

The 42-year-old man has not been charged in the incident, according to court records.

A 40-year-old woman told investigators that her phone had been stolen recently. She received an alert Sunday that someone used the phone to download her nude photos and post them on the internet, police reports say.

The woman used a ping to track the phone to a home on West 47th Street, where one of Tupper’s friends lives. She went there Sunday afternoon with Tupper, her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend.

The neighbor’s security video showed the group pull up in an SUV. Tupper could be seen holding a gun as he got out of the SUV and walked in the home, the video showed.

Tupper was arguing with the friend when they came back outside minutes later. The woman joined in the argument as it spilled into the street. The 42-year-old man hurt in the shooting, who is a neighbor and saw the fight as he walked nearby, also joined in the altercation.

The security video showed Tupper start to walk away before he turned and opened fire on the group, police reports say. The 42-year-old man also pulled out a gun and shot back at Tupper, police reports say.

The 42-year-old man limped away after being shot in the leg, police reports say. His wife and a neighbor helped him into a car so his wife could drive him to MetroHealth for treatment.

Officers found the 42-year-old man’s gun in the basement in his home. Another man is suspected of hiding the gun there after the shooting, but that man has not been charged in connection with the incident, according to court records.
