Military chefs to compete in six-day culinary exercise
FORT LEE, Va. (AP) — More than 220 military chefs from around the world will compete in a six-day culinary training exercise at Fort Lee.
The 43rd Annual Joint Culinary Training Exercise will begin Saturday and run through Thursday.
The event is the largest American Culinary Federation-sanctioned competition in North America. It is free and open to the public.
Chefs in all branches of the U.S. armed forces and four international military teams will compete.
This year’s events include the student chef of the year, student team of the year, nutrition hot food challenge, table displays, live cooking competitions and the military hot food kitchen challenge.
Competing service members are given the opportunity to earn ACF certifications, a recognized industry-standard credential.
