Florence Republicans to hear SC chairman

FLORENCE, S.C. – Drew McKissick, the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, will speak at 7 p.m. Monday in Florence at a meeting of the Florence County Republican Party.

The meeting will be held at the Floyd Conference Center, which is at 1592 Freedom Blvd. on the Carolinas Hospital System grounds in Florence.

McKissick will talk about Republican strategies and plans for the Nov. 6 general election.

He has been the chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party since May 13, 2017. He also is a Columbia-based conservative political strategist with 30 years of experience in grassroots politics and a passion for teaching others how the system works and how to make a difference.

Before becoming the chairman of the state Republican Party, he worked as the eastern director for faith engagement for the Republican National Committee, helping engage people toward greater voter registration and issue education. McKissick also is a former member of the Republican National Committee and served as a member of the Electoral College in 2004 and 2012.

McKissick has written several books and other publications dealing with various aspects of political education, organization, lobbying and campaigns that provide tips on effective conservative activism. His most recent books are “The Grassroots 101 Training Series” and “How to Plan a Winning Campaign.”
