Paul Richardson active vs. Colts, Maurice Harris out
LANDOVER Redskins wide receiver Paul Richardson will play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts after previously being designated as questionable with a shoulder injury.
But wideout Maurice Harris (concussion) will miss his second straight game. He was part of the team’s inactive list, along with safety Troy Apke (hamstring), running back Samaje Perine, defensive lineman Caleb Brantley, offensive lineman Casey Dunn, tackle Geron Christian and cornerback Adonis Alexander.
Richardson, 26, missed Friday’s practice and was first listed on the team’s injury report on Thursday, following practice. Coach Jay Gruden said Richardson aggravated his AC Joint when landing on it in last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, but had been dealing with the injury “for some time.”
The Redskins signed Richardson to a five-year, $40 million deal in the offseason to provide a deep threat to their passing attack. Richardson, though, had a quiet Week 1 catching four passes for just 22 yards.
Washington will have five wideouts active for Sunday’s game, but two were signed this week. The franchise brought back veteran Brian Quick, who spent two seasons with the Redskins before being cut at the end of the preseason, and promoted Jehu Chesson from the practice squad.
Asked if Richardson would be limited by the injury, Gruden said, “We’ll see.”
“I think usually if guys play they feel like they can do everything but we’ll play it by ear,” Gruden said.
For the Colts, running back Marlon Mack will make his season debut after missing Week 1 against the CincinnatiBengals.
