Pennsylvania man struck, seriously hurt by SUV in New Jersey

FOLSOM, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey state police say a Pennsylvania man walking in the middle of a major highway was struck and seriously injured by an SUV.

The accident occurred around 12:35 a.m. Sunday on a stretch of Route 322 in Folsom, near where the roadway intersects with Route 54.

Benjamin Star, a 36-year-old Doylestown resident, suffered undisclosed injuries that were considered life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital, but further details on his injuries were not released.

Authorities say it’s not clear why Star was in the roadway.

The driver of the SUV, 45-year-old Marilyn Mendez of Turnersville, was not injured.

Authorities say the accident investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed so far.
