Blessing Box dedicated at USC Aiken on Thursday

March 1, 2019

The new Blessing Box at USC Aiken is making non-perishable food items and toiletries available for free to students in need.

A ceremony to dedicate the Blessing Box was held Thursday afternoon.

The Rotary Club of Aiken partnered with the Aiken Junior Woman’s Club and USC Aiken to provide and stock the Blessing Box.

Others involved in the project included Full Circle Fence and the Aiken County Career and Technology Center.

Last year, when Brandon Nesbitt was a Rotary Club student of the month from USC Aiken, he spoke about his struggles with hunger.

His story inspired the organization to initiate an effort to put up a Blessing Box at the university.

Melanie Inabinet teamed up with Jane Page Thompson to start the Blessing Box program in the Aiken area in 2017.
