Authorities identify man who drowned in Colorado reservoir
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Authorities have identified the 21-year-old man who drowned at Harvey Gap Reservoir in western Colorado.
The Post Independent reports the Garfield County Search and Rescue dive team recovered the body of Daniel Guardado of Glenwood Springs from the reservoir near Silt on Sunday.
Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmire says the autopsy indicates Guardado died from an accidental drowning. Toxicology results are still pending.
Witnesses told investigators that Guardado had entered the water to retrieve an inner tube.
According to the coroner’s office, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife law enforcement officer saw Guardado struggling and disappear under water. The officer who was on land called for help and tried to find Guardado.
