St. Francis-Pa. 76, Long Island 65
LORETTO, Pa. (AP) _ Junior forward Terrence Martin scored a game-high 21 points and senior forward Rob Wooster added 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead St. Francis College of Pennsylvania to a 76-65 victory over Long Island University.
The Red Flash, who also received 13 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore center Eric Taylor, snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday and improved to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the Northeast Conference.
Long Island, which fell to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in conference play, received 18 points from junior guard Jason Feeley, 17 points from sophomore forward Corey Goodall and 16 points and 8 rebounds from junior guard Dave Masciale.
Martin scored 12 points and Wooster added 8 points and 7 rebounds as the Red Flash led 33-30 at intermission. Goodall came off the bench to score 10 points to keep the Blackbirds within striking distance.
Long Island cut the Red Flash margin to 2 points five times in the second half, but St. Francis cut the margin to four, 67-63, on a layup by Goodall off an offensive rebound. Taylor then sparked a 9-2 run with 5 points down the stretch to seal the win.
