LORETTO, Pa. (AP) _ DeMya Walker scored 15 points and Erin Stovall and Mimi McKinney added 13 apiece to lead No. 9 Virginia to a 79-60 victory over St. Francis College of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night.
The Cavaliers (6-0) broke away from a 32-28 lead at intermission to keep their record perfect. Mary Markey led the Red Flash (3-3) with 16 points.
Virginia got off to a fast start with Kate Mooney and Renee Robinson combining for 10 points to help the Cavaliers to a 17-2 lead.
Virginia shot 40.0 percent from the field in the first half but committed 13 turnovers. Markey kept the Red Flash within striking distance with nine first-half points.
The Cavaliers pushed their lead to 11 at 41-30, with a 9-2 run in the opening five minutes of the second half. Markey and Jess Zinobile combined for six straight points as the Red Flash cut the margin to 41-36 with nearly 14 minutes remaining.
Walker then sparked a 10-0 Cavaliers run with six points to give Virginia a comfortable 51-36 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
