LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) _ Louisville basketball coach Denny Crum collapsed Saturday while preparing to board a flight at Louisville International Airport.

Rande Swann, an airport spokeswoman, said Crum was at a ticket counter about 1:45 p.m. EST when he reported feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

``We called for our medics to respond until EMS could get there,'' Ms. Swann said.

Crum was transported to Jewish Hospital, she said.

Upon arrival, Crum was conscious and talking but was admitted for evaluation, Louisville Sports Information Director Kenny Klein said.

The reason for Crum's collapse and his condition were not immediately available.

``We know that he was exhausted and collapsed at the hospital,'' Athletic Director Tom Jurich said during an impromptu halftime news conference. ``He was headed to southern California to be at his stepfather's memorial service.

``Denny's a favorite around here and there's no doubt about it _ we wish the best for him.''
