Pit bull slashed, stabbed repeatedly during dog fight

November 4, 2015

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A pit bull is recovering after it was slashed and stabbed repeatedly in a fight with another pit bull in Brockton.

Patrick Chatelain found his 3-year-old pit bull, Havoc, lying covered in blood on his front lawn Sunday afternoon after he began fighting with another dog. Neighbors say Havoc, who was not on a leash, attacked the other dog that was on a leash. The dog’s walker then pulled out a knife and began stabbing Chatelain’s dog.

A veterinarian says Havoc had more than 20 wounds, some of which penetrated through the muscles.

Chatelain tells The Enterprise the dog’s surgery cost $6,000. He maintains the other dog attacked Havoc.

NECN reports the dog was released on Tuesday.

It is unclear if any charges would be filed in the incident.
