Police suspect driver who died in Georgia chase shot a man
ELLENWOOD, Ga. (AP) — Police say they believe a driver who died in a chase with officers Monday was connected to a predawn fatal shooting at a suburban Atlanta apartment complex.
Clayton County Fire Department Battalion Chief Laura Richardson says a 42-year-old man died before noon Monday when he hit a dump truck while fleeing police.
Officers had sought to question the man, believing he shot a 45-year-old man in the parking garage of an apartment complex in Dunwoody just after 5 a.m. Monday.
After the wreck in Ellenwood, firefighters had to cut the man from the car. Richardson says the driver of the dump truck was uninjured.
The Georgia State Patrol and local police are investigating.
Names of the two dead men are being withheld pending notification of family members.
