Deda has held senior executive leadership roles at Vertafore, Galvanize, FullContact, and TruStile in operations, sales, marketing, and support. Ben is also a co-founder and board member for Denver Startup Week, the largest free entrepreneurial event in North America. He brings extensive knowledge of manufacturing and logistics and rolling out facilities across the country. Deda has an MBA from the University of Denver and a BS of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He also spent seven years in the Marine Corps as an infantry officer and recruiting officer.
“The mission, market opportunity and talent of FoodMaven made this opportunity impossible to turn down,” said Deda. “I’m incredibly honored to join the team, and help scale this impactful company.”
FoodMaven CEO and co-founder Patrick Bultema describes Deda as a key addition for FoodMaven’s expansion and growth. “I’m thrilled to have Ben join us. His passion for our mission, deep expertise and experience in start-ups, and track record of leading operations made him the ideal choice as we begin expanding to other cities,” said Bultema. “What’s more, having Ben minding the day-to-day operational leadership issues, frees me to continue my external focus on behalf of FoodMaven. As such, this is really an ideal partnership of leadership. I continue to be humbled by the level of talent that is joining FoodMaven.”
The addition of Deda comes on the heels of welcoming other high-profile talent individuals like Jason Rembert who joined as Chief Technology Officer, formerly VP of Oracle Data Cloud (previously DataLogix). Julian Flores joined as Chief of Staff, and Greg Lemms joined as Director of Engineering. Prominent tech leader Nancy Phillips, executive board chair at Flexential and chair of the National Center for Women and Information Technology, invested and joined the board of directors. She joins such notables as: Walter Robb, former co-CEO of Whole Foods; Chris Onan, venture investor and co-founder of Galvanize, a recognized leader in the startup community; and Lauren Baron, of Walton Enterprises, representing the investment of members of the Walton family.
After closing an $8.6 million Series A in 2017, FoodMaven is in process on a Series B round of financing. With an eye on expanding into a next out-of-state metro service area later this year, FoodMaven plans to continue its rapid pace of growth with plans to expand to ten additional markets in 2019.
