Man Shot, Wounded at Madonna’s Hollywood Hills Home

May 30, 1995

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Police shot a man who apparently scaled a fence to get into the back yard of Madonna’s Hollywood Hills home while the pop star was away.

Robert Roland Hoskins, 37, was shot three times in the arm and abdomen Monday evening, police said. He was in fair condition today at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

``There have been reports made by Madonna that he has been threatening her and stalking her,″ police Detective Mike McDonagh said.

Hoskins confronted a security guard in the back yard, about 40 feet from the house, McDonagh said.

Police planned to transfer Hoskins to the jail ward at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and book him for investigation of attempted burglary, police Detective Andrew Purdy said.

Last summer, a 26-year-old drifter from Arizona was sentenced to a year in jail for scaling Madonna’s fence and fighting a police officer. Todd Michael Lawrence claimed to be Madonna’s husband and stalked her for at least two weeks before his July arrest.
