Scotus vs. Ogallala for state
As expected, Scotus Central Catholic boys basketball will face Ogallala Saturday in Kearney with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
Scotus, which had struggled through the regular season to a 6-16 record, nonetheless finds itself one win away from state thanks to three straight wins in the sub-district tournament.
The Shamrocks defeated Madison 67-55 on Monday, took down Twin River 63-46 on Tuesday then beat Boone Central/Newman Grove 62-43 on Thursday for their fourth win in a row and an improbable run to the sub-district title.
As the lowest remaining team in the wildcard points standings, Scotus faces the top team in Class C-1 in terms of wildcard points, the No. 2 team in C-1 according to the Lincoln Journal Star and an unbeaten Ogallala squad on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Winter weather is expected to wreak havoc in the area again. Stay with The Telegram for updates should time and date of the game change.
