ONLINE SALES TAXES

PIERRE, S.D. — South Dakota lawmakers debate a bill that would allow the state to start collecting sales taxes from many out-of-state internet retailers on Nov. 1. It will be a major plan discussed at a special legislative session to tweak laws to take advantage of South Dakota’s victory at the U.S. Supreme Court, which paved the way for more online shoppers to pay sales taxes. PIPELINE-IOWA LANDOWNERS LAWSUIT

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday in a lawsuit filed by a group of landowners who claim the forced taking of their land for the Dakota Access oil pipeline through eminent domain is illegal under the Iowa Constitution because it provides no public service to Iowans.
