Labor Day DUI Enforcement planned

August 31, 2018

Labor Day DUI Enforcement planned: Law enforcement officers will be on the roads and in the water this weekend looking for drunken drivers and impaired boaters.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting DUI enforcement details starting today through Monday, paid for by a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says it will conduct marine enforcement patrols on the Colorado River, monitoring the waterway for drunken boaters and boaters operating their crafts recklessly.

Deputies will also be looking for children under 13 without personal floatation devices while on board watercrafts.

The Labor Day weekend is one of the deadliest times of the year in terms of nationwide drunk-driving fatalities according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
