Suspected Informer Killed in West Bank Coffee Shop
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Masked men entered a West Bank coffee shop Thursday and killed a suspected Palestinian informer by shooting him three times in the head, Arab reports said.
The victim, Lufti Ali al-Kaisi, 45, had been attacked several times previously during the 44-month-old Palestinian uprising on suspicion of informing on fellow Arabs. He lost an eye when masked assailants threw acid in his face, Arab reporters said.
His death brought to 419 the number of Palestinians killed by fellow Arabs during the uprising, most on suspicion of cooperating with Israel. Israelis have killed an additional 840 Palestinians, and 67 Israelis have died.
The army said an Israeli soldier was badly hurt late Wednesday when a rock smashed through the windshield of a military van and hit him in the head near the West Bank village of Hawwara.
