Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Haslam says he will decide if he’ll run for an open U.S. Senate sometime after leaving office in mid-January. Haslam told The Associated Press he plans to take a short vacation with his wife to think about the decision after he leaves office Jan. 19. Haslam said he doesn’t have a deadline, but won’t take six months.

SUSPECT STRUCK-HANDCUFFS, from CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. _ A Tennessee prosecutor says authorities have dismissed charges stemming from the arrest of a black man who was beaten by a white officer while handcuffed earlier this month. AP Photos.

PONZI SCHEME, from NASHVILLE, Tenn. _ A Florida man has pleaded guilty in Tennessee to charges relating to a $28 million Ponzi scheme.

DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS SHOOTING, from MEMPHIS, Tenn. _ Prosecutors say a Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to shooting into a crowded parking lot in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
