Government Witness Says He Was Promised $45,000 to Inform on Shabazz
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ The key witness in an alleged murder-for-hire plot against Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan said today the government promised him $45,000 to inform on a daughter of Malcolm X.
Michael Fitzpatrick has been in seclusion in the federal witness protection program since before Quiblah Shabazz was charged in January with hiring him to kill Farrakhan. Farrakhan was never attacked.
Fitzpatrick entered U.S. District Court through a back door for today’s pretrial hearing and took the stand for questioning by civil rights lawyer William Kunstler, answering in mostly one-word replies.
