January 24, 2019

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 77-year-old Ludington woman in the 1100 block of North Gary Street in Pere Marquette Township.

Emergency responders were called to a residence at 9:09 a.m. after neighbors found the woman. Neighbors were administering first aid until Life EMS, Pere Marquette Fire Department and deputies arrived, Sheriff Kim Cole stated in a release. She was transported to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, where she died. Cole said the woman was visiting her mom and “apparently fell while walking to her vehicle around 7 p.m. Sunday. Not being able to get back up, she laid in the snow (in) sub-zero temperatures until being discovered shortly after 9 a.m. Monday morning by a neighbor.”

An investigation is ongoing. Cole stated that foul play is not suspected.
