Route 66 Classic baseball tourney begins Thursday
NEEDLES — Busloads of ballplayers descend on Needles March 7 through 9 for a tournament to be played on fields at Needles and River Valley high schools in the 2019 Route 66 Baseball Classic.
Play begins at 8 a.m. Pacific Time (Needles); 9 a.m. Mountain Time (Arizona) all three days.
The Needles High School Mustangs play against Monument Valley Thursday at 10 a.m. PST, on Jack Hutcherson Field behind Needles High School off Washington Street. They take the same field again at 2 p.m. PST to face Camp Verde.
The Mustangs are scheduled for one game, against Joshua Springs, beginning at noon PST on Friday; and another, against Holbrook, at noon PST on Saturday. Both are to be played on Jack Hutcherson Field.
The 18 teams scheduled as of Feb. 26 include Kingman Academy of Learning; Page, Camp Verde, Williams, Lake Havasu, River Valley, Kingman High School, The Meadows, Southwest, Palo Verde, Mohave, Pahrump, Central Union, MALC, Monument Valley, Many Farms, Joshua Springs and Chino Valley.
