MU’s Debell earns all-conference honor
HUNTINGTON — Marshall University sophomore Ciara Debell was chosen for the Conference USA volleyball all-conference second team.
The Ocala, Florida, native finished second in the league in kills (4.24) and points per set (4.73). Her 32 kills against More-head State on Aug. 28 was the highest 2018 single-match total in C-USA in 2018 while her 28 kills against Rice (Oct. 12) and 27 more against UTEP (Oct. 7) tied for fifth and seventh respectively.
Debell led Marshall in matches started (27), points (487), points per set (4.73), kills (437), kills per set (4.24) and service aces (10).
The C-USA championship tournament begins Friday in Cam Henderson Center at Marshall.
Marshall placed 10th in the conference (10-19,3-11) and didn’t finish in the top eight to get in the tournament.
Rice (21-6,12-2) captured the regular season title and is seeded No. 1. Western Kentucky (20-9,11-3) is the four-time defending champion seeded second.
