No. 10 Louisiana Tech Tops Fresno St.
RUSTON, La. (AP) _ Cheryl Obaze scored 19 points to lead No. 10 Louisiana Tech to an 87-62 victory over Fresno State on Thursday night for its 18th straight win.
Obaze shot 9-of-17 from the field and had five rebounds for the Techsters (20-2, 12-0 Western Athletic Conference), who have the second-longest winning streak in the country behind top-ranked Connecticut.
Cheryl Ford added 16 points and Erica Smith had 11 for Louisiana Tech, which also set a WAC record by posting its 15th straight conference win.
Fresno State (12-10, 6-6 Western Athletic Conference) was led by Omelogo Udeze and Artitta Lane, who had 14 points apiece. Tiffany Simon added 11.
The game marked the return of Fresno State head coach Stacy Johnson-Klein to the Tech campus. She had served for two years as a Techsters’ assistant before being named the Bulldogs coach last year.
