SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ San Antonio Spurs center David Robinson left Saturday's playoff game against Seattle early in the first half when his sore back tightened up.

He was not expected to return, a team spokesman said.

Robinson sat out the last three games of the regular season after straining his lower back in the Spurs' win in Detroit on April 12.

He rested and had physical therapy to get ready for the postseason, and as late as Friday he said he felt better and was optimistic that he would be able to contribute in the best-of-five series with the SuperSonics.

But on Saturday he played only seven minutes in the first quarter before leaving with San Antonio trailing, 17-16. Robinson didn't score and he had two rebounds.

The Spurs and Sonics play Game 2 on Monday night.
