Firefighters respond to cornfield fire
NORFOLK - Norfolk firefighters responded to a cornfield fire Wednesday afternoon.
According to Fire Inspector Nathan Wortmann, Norfolk Fire was dispatched to the area of 835 Road and 557th Avenue and found a partially harvested field burning with the fire spreading rapidly due to high winds.
It took 12 apparatuses and 30 personnel over two hours to control the fire.
The Madison and Stanton Fire Departments assisted. Neighboring farmers also provided assistance with their farm equipment.
The fire was caused by a pickup driving through the corn stubble.
No injuries were reported.
