March’s biggest winners in CT Lottery games

April 2, 2019

March was the month of some very large, life-changing prizes for those who got lucky playing CT Lottery games.

While most winners claim prizes using their individual names, some winners come forward using other legal entities (i.e., trusts, business partnership) to claim their prizes.

Last month, the biggest prizes were won by people who did just that.

The largest prize of $5,750,000 was claimed by the “Trust For Awesome Kids,” of New London. The $5.75 million came from a winning Lucky for Life Ticket sold at Honeybeefarms LLC in New London.

The second biggest prize of $3.5 million was claimed by “Tyhenley LLC,” of Wilmington, Delaware. The $3.5 million was won on a $5,000,000 Ultimate sold at Hartford Mart in Hartford.

Last month, there were several prizes where people won $100,000 or more.

Then, there were people who won twice.

At the top of that list is Jim, Zygmont, of Trumbull, who purchased two 20X Cash scratch tickets and won the game’s top prize— twice on the same day, at the same lottery retailer, and walked away with $40,000 in a matter of minutes.

“I bought the first ’20X’ ticket over the counter at 4:56 p.m. and won $20,000. I almost fell backwards. It was crazy,” said Zygmont, who had the moment documented in a photos taken from the lottery retailer’s security camera.

“Not even five minutes later, the [retailer] pointed out the Lottery’s new vending machine. He said, ‘They just started the machine up today; you should give it a try.’”

Zygmont decided to give it a go; he turned around and purchased three more “20X Cash” tickets from the vending machine. When he scanned the second ticket with the machine’s ticket checker, Zygmont said he was stunned. “I won another $20,000. I couldn’t believe it!”

For selling Zygmont his two top prize winning tickets, Crossroads Card & Gift, located at 280 Connecticut Ave., Norwalk, received a $400 bonus from the CT Lottery.

Other people who claimed more than one lottery prize last month were:

Dennis Diiulio, of Stratford; who won $20,000 on a 20X Cash ticket sold at Trumbull Food Mart in Trumbull. Diiulio also won $10,000 on a 30X Cash ticket bought at the same location.

CT Lottery also lists Cheatana Sangkasinsoo, of Danbury claiming two $10,000 prizes on a Play 4 tickets sold at Village Liquor Shoppe in Brookfield.
