Hunton Andrews Kurth inks renewal at downtown tower
Hunton Andrews Kurth, an international law firm with four offices in Texas, has renewed a 134,763-square-foot lease at 600 Travis, formerly JPMorgan Chase Tower. The firm, which was renamed following the combination of Hunton & Williams and Andrews Kurth Kenyon in April, has been a tenant in the 75-story tower since it opened in 1981.
“We have been deeply rooted in Houston for more than 100 years,” Houston Managing Partner Tammy Brennig said in an announcement. “600 Travis has been our home for nearly 40 years, and we are pleased that it will continue to be our home.”
Charles Gordon and Paul Penland of CBRE represented the tenant. Clark Thompson, Diana Bridger and Margaret Elkins of Colvill Office Properties represented the landlord, Prime Asset Management.
Hunton Andrews Kurth, which has 300 attorneys and staff downtown, is consolidating a 6,099-square-foot office at 700 Louisiana to 600 Travis. It will maintain a 3,966-square-foot office with six employees in The Woodlands.
U.S. Well Services has subleased 19,865 square feet of office space at 1360 Post Oak Blvd. Dan Boyles and Liz Westcott-Brown of NAI Partners represented the U.S. Well Services. Morgan Relyea Colt with Cushman & Wakefield represented the sublessor, BHP Billiton.
Energy Recovery, a provider of energy solutions to industrial fluid flow markets, has signed a lease for a planned build-to-suit commercial development center on 4 acres in the Energy Park West Business Park in Katy. The site, at the northwest corner of Clay Road and Katy Hockley Cutoff Road, will serve as the central office for the company’s oil and gas segment. It will include a 25,000-square-foot facility and a 2-acre yard for field testing and product development. Bob Berry and Jacob Bravo of Avison Young represented the tenant. Mark Kidd Sr. and Mark Kidd Jr. of M Kidd Properties represented the landlord, FS Clay.
Flight Centre Travel Group has renewed a lease for 4,195 square feet at 8 Greenway Plaza. Trey Martin of NAI Partner represented the tenant. JP Hutcheson of Parkway Properties represented the landlord.
Windland Kingwood Investment has purchased a 29,658-square-foot medical/professional building at 2627 Chestnut Ridge, Kingwood. Adam McAlpine of McAlpine Interests represented the seller, from 2627 Chestnut Ridge LLC. Robin Moore of Proximity Commercial Advisors represented the buyer. McAlpine Interests has been hired to handle the leasing and management of the property, which is 100 percent leased.
The Walden Group has acquired an apartment portfolio consisting of 1,858 units across 18 properties in six states. Tyler Averitt and Craig Hey of Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller, Varden Capital Properties. Walden Group gained Gracie Square, a 223-unit complex at 1201 Wilcrest in Houston, as part of the $106.7 million acquisition.
BGN has leased 2,906 square feet at 2 Houston Center. The company’s operations include trading, storage and transportation of petroleum, petrochemical products and commodities. Griff Bandy of NAI Partners represented the tenant. Jack Scharnberg of Transwestern represented the landlord, Brookfield.
G-Tech Development has purchased a 32,606-square-foot industrial property on 7 acres at 35002 Cooper Road in Brookshire. Reed Vestal and Taylor Schmidt of Lee & Associates represented the seller, Koomey Building LLC. Glen Dickerson with NewQuest Properties represented the buyer.
