CINCINNATI (AP) _ Cincinnatians who find seeing eye to eye difficult with shorter people recently met to discuss the highs and lows of being tall.

Shelly Haynie, who at 5 feet, 11 inches tall qualifies by an inch as a tall woman, is secretary of High Cincinnatians.

The group requires that its male members stand at least 6-feet-2 and that women members be at least 5-feet-10. The goals of the group aren’t lofty, says Ms. Haynie. Members say they just want to promote ″tall awareness.″

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - Telephone engineers have disentangled an embarrassing crossed line that piped a call girl’s sales pitch into a family’s phone.

″It was disgusting. All we had to do was pick up the phone and she was there,″ said the father of the family, who asked to remain anonymous.

″She must be a very busy lady. She has a very calm businesslike manner,″ he said, adding she could be eard quoting her measurements and prices.

A spokesman for British Telecom, the national telecommunications company, said engineers solved the problem by rewiring the circuit.
