Big Movers in the Stock Market

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market.

NYSE

Autozone Inc., up $11.79, or 17.7 percent, at $78.38

Autozone posted first-quarter earnings of 76 cents a share, beating analysts’ expectations by 16 cents.

Centex Corp., up $3.24 at $50.25

The real estate developer raised its fiscal 2002 earnings projections to $5.85 a share from $5.65 a share.

Ford Motor Co., down 66 cents at $17.08

Ford warned Wednesday its fourth-quarter losses will be bigger than expected due to difficulties in collecting on car loans. Ford expects a loss of 50 cents a share, bigger than the 28 cent loss it previously projected and wider than the 14 cent loss analysts were expecting.

NASDAQ

inSilicon Corp., up 54 cents at $2.74

The company, which makes equipment for the semiconductor industry, plans to reduce its work force by 20 percent and will take a first-quarter charge of $3.5 million.

Elizabeth Arden, up $1.87 at $14.97

The cosmetics company reported third-quarter net income of $1.48 a share, beating Wall Street’s forecast by 6 cents.

Pinnacle Systems Inc., up 68 cents at $6.76

J.P. Morgan Chase raised its rating on Pinnacle to ``buy″ from ``long-term buy.″ Pinnacle is a provider of Internet streaming for broadcasters.
