Nippon, Lufthansa, UAL May Share
TOKYO (AP) _ Japan’s All Nippon Airways Co. said Tuesday it is in talks with UAL Corp.’s United Airlines and Deutsche Lufthansa AG, among other airlines, about code sharing, but there has been no agreement.
The Tuesday morning edition of Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun said ANA has agreed separately with United Airlines and Lufthansa to start code sharing before the end of the year.
An ANA spokesman said that United and Lufthansa are ``leading candidates″ for a code-sharing agreement, and ANA would like to reach an agreement as soon as possible, but he emphasized that nothing has been decided.
A code-sharing pact allows airlines to link their computer-reservation systems and feed passengers onto each other’s flights.
